A common question among both believers and nonbelievers alike is: Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?

Why doesn’t He intervene in the daily lives to stop all evil?

I think such questions may be a result of our not understanding we live in a fallen world. So the answer is two-fold.

When God first created all things in the beginning, Genesis 1:4,10,12,18, and 25, all records in a similar fashion, “and God saw that it was good.”  Then V31 says, “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

When Adam partook of the fruit in the Garden of Eden, things drastically changed. Sin entered, death followed, a curse was pronounced upon the man, the woman, the serpent, and the ground began producing thorns and thistles.

Originally, man was given dominion over all the earth.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

In essence, Adam was “the god of this world”, but due to his disobedience, that dominion was lost; as well as his right relationship with God.

The serpent, described as the devil, has now become “the god of this world”; and things have gone downhill ever since.

It is not God who made or makes these bad things happen; it is the corrupt nature of man who does so brings on most of it.

It is the enemy who deceives mankind by whispering into their ears, “How can a loving God allow this to happen?”

So man blames God for what the enemy or corrupt man does and He is not at fault.

So to answer the question: Most of mankind has no relationship with God. Mankind, in general, has not reverenced or come to God as prescribed by the Bible. They refuse to be reconciled yet think God should just intervene and remove all evil from their midst. Honestly, to do that, He would have to remove mankind.
